Pakistan's Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, COAS and CDF concluded a short but highly productive official visit to Iran. During the trip, he held high-level engagements with H.E. Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran; H.E. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament; H.E. Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of Iran; and H.E. Eskandar Momeni, Interior Minister of Iran. The discussions focused on expediting the consultative process underway to support peace and stability in the region and to reach a conclusive agreement. The engagements were conducted in a positive and constructive environment and contributed meaningfully toward the mediation process. Intensive negotiations over the last twenty-four hours yielded encouraging progress toward a final understanding. The Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan's sincere and constructive role in facilitating dialogue and promoting peaceful settlement of regional issues. Upon arrival back in Pakistan, the Field Marshal was received by H.E. Eskandar Momeni, Interior Minister, along with senior civil and military officials. Opinion: In my view, the visit underscores Pakistan's growing role as a regional mediator and reinforces the importance of Iran-Pakistan cooperation for broader security in South and Central Asia. If sustained, such diplomatic momentum could anchor de-escalation efforts following the April 8 ceasefire and pave the way for more inclusive talks. However, lasting progress will require concrete follow-through, transparency, and engagement with all stakeholders amid domestic and international pressures.
